Loved it here - why go anywhere else. On the stunning Thesen Island where you feel you are in a different secure world. Surrounded by restaurants, bars and boutiques. Only a short drive to Wilderness National Park and Storms River for hiking and kayaking. The Hotel has been transformed from a powerplant in such an imaginative way . The installations look like art pieces. The place is so airy and looks so vast with the heigh ceilings. The view room our room was just stunning with our little balcony, perfect for a nice glass of wine or Amarula as the sun goes down. The hotel bar is well run and has a great choice of snacks, cocktails and wines. All at sensible prices. We noted other cheaper than at surrounding restaurants. The cocktails were high class and worth popping in each night before you head off to eat. We didn't get a chance to eat in but from the bar food I am sure the restaurant is excellent. Staff were all super friendly and felt well looked after. The perfect first stop if you are doing the Garden Route after leaving Cape Town +/- wine country +/- Hermanus (if whale watching) The bar staff member Duwayne deserves mention - so friendly, attentive and fun - loved his service.+

have been a regular guest at this hotel, visiting once a year, and I am usually very satisfied with the experience. However, this time, the first room we were given (Room 109) was truly disappointing and did not meet the standards I've come to expect, especially for the price paid. Knowing the quality of the other rooms, this one fell far below expectations. That said, I would like to highlight the excellent service provided by the reception staff. The receptionist listened to my concerns with great understanding and worked tirelessly to find us another room, which I greatly appreciated. Another initial disappointment was the spa, which was fully booked upon our arrival, and we were unable to make a reservation. However, the spa team went above and beyond to accommodate us, eventually finding a slot for my partner and me. This level of dedication was much appreciated. In summary, despite some initial setbacks, the staff's efforts and dedication made the stay enjoyable!

I had an incredible stay at the Turbine Hotel & Spa. The unique setting in a converted power station was both fascinating and charming. The rooms were spacious, well-appointed, and offered stunning views of the marina. The staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive, making sure all my needs were met. The on-site spa provided a relaxing and rejuvenating experience, perfect after a day of exploring. The dining options were superb, with a delicious variety of dishes to choose from. Overall, a memorable and delightful stay. Highly recommended!

Thessen Island is a well appointed development of residential properties, a few shops, restaurants and bars. Reached by a road bridge less than 1km out of the main town. Hotel is very well placed for restaurants and bars. We ate at tapas and Oysters ring next door as it was a bit more lively for our one evening. Bar and restaurant on site looked pretty good. Room was spacious enough and comfortable. Building is really interesting with lots of reminders of its industrial past. Parking right next door.

Such a unique property. If you are interested in staying somewhere that is a part museum with exhibits effortlessly incorporated as part of the design, then this hotel is perfect for you! We enjoyed finding various displays and the newspaper clippings in the library offered a glimpse of life in 1950s Knysna. The breakfast was incredible - I would recommend the continental breakfast for two, it needs to be seen to be believed. The spa was also an added bonus!
